December 22, 2021 - Een Boodschaap

December 22, 2021 Hallo iederen!!!! I've officially been in the MTC for a week now and so much has already happened so I'll just go over some of my favorite things that have happened so far. My first day here we were introduced to the German district and they are super cool. They showed us around the dorms and kind of told us what to expect and it's been really fun talking with them. The language study has been going really good so far! My teachers are geweldig(awesome), they make the learning super fun and bring the spirit to the class to help us learn. Every morning either my comp or I only speak Dutch for a few hours and that's really helped us learn to speak it. There's just been a lot of cool stuff we've learned and it has been really fun figuring the language out and using it more. We've also had some really incredible devotionals that have helped us to learn and teach by the spirit. At one of our devotionals the group Gentry(I think that's how you spell it) came and sang. They're a "trio of gentleman" tenors, hence the name Gentry...I guess. Please forgive me anyone who's really into them but there style of music isn't my favorite, however, their pianist guy is suuuper talented and I could easily listen to his music for the next two years and not get tired of it. They did a song from Les Miserables and be still my soul and those were pretty good.Today we went to the Timpanogas temple because the Provo temple is closed and that was really cool! The temple layout was very similar to the bountiful so it felt like home in a way. I got a chance to be part of a blessing for one of the elders in my district who was sick and that was amazing! His companion gave the blessing, his first time ever, and it was so awesome! The words he spoke really testified how the spirit influences us because I know he would not have spoken what he did on his own. I'd just like to share a brief spiritual thought before I wrap this email up. Luke 2:11 says, "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.". I know that's a pretty brief scripture but I think it's so important! As we're in this Christmas season I think it's so important that we remember why we're celebrating. I get the awesome opportunity of completely focusing on Christ while I'm at the MTC and I'm so grateful for that! I hope all of you get a chance to remember Christ's role in your life even with all the crazy holiday stress. Also I highly recommend you watch the newest Christ child video, it is really cool! December 1, 2021 Goedendag everyone! I've only been in the at home MTC for two days but it has already been so incredible! The first day I was struggling a bit with getting all the online stuff working but I figured it out and I'm all ready to go now. The first day of MTC was mostly introductory but we still had some great lessons. I got to know everyone in my district, district 11-H, and my companion and I love them all! There are ten people in my district, four sisters and six elders, and we are all going to the same mission which is so cool! We haven't done any language study together but we've been using basic dutch every once and a while which has been really fun. Already I know everyone in my district as well as my companion are serving missions because they love God and Jesus Christ. December 8, 2021 Everyone loved the fish!

December 8, 2021 Hoi everyone! I'll get to explaining my title in a bit. My English teachers always taught me to have a good hook... pun intended *wink wink*. Anyway, this last week of learning has been really good! There are a couple of new things I've started doing since the last email, one of those being workshops. The workshops are just little online classes that you sign up for to teach you anything from the timeline of the Book of Mormon to posting on social media while on the mission. I went to one called Normal and natural interactions and it was really good for multiple reasons. I thought the teachers were really good at explaining the importance of having charity (the pure love of Christ) with you as you served and taught. They also performed a comedy sketch of sorts at the beginning which was the comedic relief I needed that day. The other thing me and my companion have started doing is called Helping Others. December 14, 2021 - Online is officially over!

December 14, 2021 This is the last email I’ll be sending from the comfort of my own basement! I’ve been able to feel the spirit so strongly these last two weeks and it’s all been over zoom so I can’t wait to see what the Provo MTC holds for me. My last zoom class was yesterday morning and it was the last English focused class I’ll ever have. From now on it’s going to be Dutch learning only so there’s going to be a lot of “Hoe zegt u?”(how do you say?) and “Wat bedekent…?”(what does……mean?) but I’m really excited! A few days ago my district made a goal to try and use only Dutch in our google chat so that’s really helped with all of our casual talk. It has really been incredible to see how the gift of tongues has worked in my district. We were encouraged to ask in every prayer for the gift of tongues and it has been so cool! Obviously we haven’t gotten that far in Dutch but there are a lot of really tricky words as far as pronunciation goes and everyone nails them! We’ve all memorized “...
